I am returning from southeast asia where we are making good progress on future plants.

After a Monday evening incident that created a pressure wave and shook up two of our workers, the B processor side of our coal refinery in Gillette is up and operating in full automatic mode.

As I explained in an earlier post, the plant was shut down for testing and maintenence on Monday when a small amount of coal dropped through the processor and lockhoppers into a bin and was ignited by an ember, resulting in a pressure wave that moved through our rotary cooler and blew open a door on one end.

Our workers are fine and returned top work the next day.

We immediately began repairs. We replaced the seal on the door, some other seals and some temperature probes in the lower end of the plant.

We have revised our procedures to lock out the lower product lock valve when the unit is not in operation and we have added some shutdown flush requirements to preclude similar future occurrence.

Early Tuesday we began throttling up the plant and by later in the day  we were back on line and operating--which is where we are right now.
